Cathy Cao is the Vice President of Marketing at Objective, Investment Banking & Valuation,  a leading investment banking and valuation firm offering Sell-Side M&A and Valuation Advisory Services for middle-market companies.

Cathy’s path to becoming a marketing leader followed an unexpected path. She discovered her passion for amplifying the stories of business owners and realized that the role of a marketer perfectly aligned with her interests.

Combining her love for storytelling and her technical background, Cathy leverages technology and marketing skills to scale her storytelling ability effectively and reach targeted audiences.

Moreover, Cathy has now transitioned into an entrepreneurial leader who spearheads end-to-end marketing functions for new market penetration and revenue growth, especially for financial services firms. 

As Objective’s VP of Marketing, Cathy develops strategic marketing initiatives that resonate with their target audience: the middle market community of business owners and their corporate attorneys, wealth managers, CPAs, bankers, and/or brokers.

When it comes to creating engagement using marketing, Cathy shares:

"This is at the epicentre of marketing. There is no cookie cutter way to create engagement, it is trial and error. Great marketers fail a lot. We A/B test even the greatest campaign because it can be the smallest thing that drives that extra 1%."

She also shares about how to keep your brand fresh over time:

"Be relevant to the consumer at all times. If you understand what the consumer needs you'll always appear fresh. When you communicate a message that is targeted and relevant you'll get an engaged consumer that identifies with your brand."
