Erica LaCentra is the Chief Marketing Officer at RCN Capital, a private lending company founded in 2010. She joined RCN Capital early in her career when it was a startup looking to expand nationwide.

Erica’s journey in marketing began in college, where she was fascinated by the psychological aspects of consumer behavior. Her career took off after working as an executive assistant, where a female executive inspired her in the marketing field.

At RCN Capital, Erica has played a key role in the company’s growth from a regional lender to a nationwide force in private lending for real estate investors. She oversees marketing strategies across various channels, including events, social media, and email marketing.

Erica emphasizes the importance of understanding customer needs, building strong brands, and staying updated on marketing trends across industries.

When asked what’s a key challenge in branding for her industry, Erica shares:

"One of the biggest challenges is making your product stand out when everything is so similar. Additionally, being in the financial industry, regulations can make it very challenging."

She also shares her approach to building a marketing team:

"When building a team, it's essential to consider the specialties of the individuals you're hiring. It can be tempting to hire a jack-of-all-trades type person, but specialization is key."

And what advice she has for aspiring marketers:

"My biggest piece of advice is to get an internship or hands-on experience. Marketing techniques have changed significantly from what I learned in college over ten years ago."
