Meet Gabriel Margonari - CMO @ Grupo Valor

Gabriel Margonari is the Chief Marketing Officer at Grupo Valor, a Brazilian financial services company that provides innovative lending solutions to businesses.

Originally from Brazil, Gabriel’s unconventional path to marketing began with creating a bodybuilding podcast at age 17. This early foray into content creation sparked his passion for marketing.

After studying psychology in France, Gabriel pivoted to marketing, working as a freelance podcast editor while learning English. He then pursued formal marketing education in Canada.

With over 11 years of industry experience, Gabriel now leads a team of 16-17 marketers at Grupo Valor. He champions the use of AI tools to enhance productivity and focuses on data-driven strategies balanced with human psychology insights.

Gabriel is passionate about fostering a respectful work environment and values practical skills over formal education when hiring marketing talent.

When it comes to his approach to hiring marketing talent, Gabriel shares:

"I don't care about university degrees or college backgrounds. What matters is their portfolio, their capabilities, and I always test candidates before bringing them onto my team."

He also shares what’s important in maintaining brand consistency:

"We strive to stay true to our identity while remaining open to trends. However, we ensure we don't deviate too far from who we are and always keep a professional tone."

And how marketers can leverage AI effectively:

"AI is only going to replace mediocre work. If you're good at what you do, AI is there to enhance what we already do. If you're skilled, AI will never replace you."
